GNU is currently helping to change the way visitors to three CHW facilities find their destinations. Each assignment started with a need to do something about the signs. But, in all cases, improving how people find their way meant reevaluating how they make decisions, the idiosyncrasies of the environments and how best to disseminate the information, where and when it's needed.

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals select GNU and ex;it

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals has chosen the team of the GNU Group and ex;it to develop a new wayfinding master plan for the 9 buildings and 2 million square feet of facilities that comprise their downtown Philadelphia campus. GNU and ex;it's comprehensive approach and experience are aligned with TJUH's program needs and our team was selected from a short list of stellar environmental graphic design firms. "The combined resources of our two firms provide powerful capabilities to meet TJUH's goals," explains Phil Murphy, GNU's President and CEO. "We've worked closely with Alan Jacobson and his ex;it team on other projects and our collaboration was a natural for TJUH." Ex;it's proximity to the campus and their excellent research methodology complements GNU's creative and production skills. Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals is a complex urban campus with multiple interconnected buildings. "Strengthening Jefferson's campus by providing a thoughtful and integrated wayfinding system," is the goal of the program, as described in the RFP. Established in 1825, the Hospital now has 957 licensed acute care beds and a staff of over 6000, serving the Philadelphia area. Last year the Hospital had 108,000 emergency room visits and 450,000 out patient visits.
