GNU Group Sponsors CoreNet’s 16th Annual Golf Tournament.

This past June, CoreNet, a non-profit association dedicated to the advancement of corporate real estate practice, hosted their 16th annual golf tournament to raise funds to support their Northern California Chapter. GNU Group was happy to get involved by providing signage, and guiding attendees and participants through various portions of the course.

Hosted at the historic and serene Sequoyah Country Club in the Oakland Hills, CoreNet has created a tradition with their annual golf tournament, which has taken place for over 15 years. With over 30 different sponsors, CoreNet has found a way to make each hole exciting and engaging.

The course takes place on a hilly terrain, with the highest slopes of any layout in California, which makes it very challenging for players, plus the course has no like holes. In result, each sponsor helps take the edge off of the players demanding game by providing an astonishing array of activities, prizes, and giveaways. The tournament also provides delicious food, thirst quenching beverages, and golf carts to drive all around the course.

For the past five years, GNU Group has had their signs on display during the tournament, in addition to displaying their signs at other events put on by CoreNet like the Day on the Bay, Holiday Party, Annual Signs, and Annual Awards Dinner. This year, GNU Group had displays in signage for pizza, individual holes, and signs for each event of the course and a master banner with each sponsor listed.

Along with GNU Group, partners in sponsorship for this year’s tournament include: CBRE, BCCI Construction, SC Builders, Rudolph & Sletten, Haworth, DPR, AlfaTech, Turner Construction, Cushman & Wakefield, AVISPL, Herman Miller, HGA Architects, Colliers International, M Moser, Clune Construction Company, Teknion, Hillhouse Construction Co. Inc., Novo Construction, MBH Architects, Holder Construction Inc., Stok, XL Construction Co., Newmark Cornish & Carey.

A few highlights of the entertaining holes from this years course’s are: SC Builders’ corn hole where each winner would be rewarded a cheese board platter, DPR Construction hosted a golf and skeeball game and the winner received Giants tickets, and Colliers International offered $5,000 for anyone who got a hole-in-one.

Although GNU Group has previously sponsored the signs for the past 5 years, this was their first time attending the event and partaking in some of the fun activities at various holes. “We had a blast, helped ensure an enjoyable experience through wayfinding, and we are very excited for next year!” said Monica Wietsma, one of the GNU Group attendees.
