Berkeley Commons is a 470,000 square foot, two-building life science campus in West Berkeley that established a new approach to large-scale office signage in the City of Berkeley. Located along the Aquatic Park and Highway 80, the project required a signage strategy that balanced visibility, branding, and regulatory complexity.
GNU Group led the design of a fully entitled, campus-wide branded signage and wayfinding program, working in close collaboration with Rhoades Planning Group and city stakeholders. As part of the presentation team, our firm helped secure approval for Berkeley’s first-ever Coordinated Sign Program through the Design Review Committee and Zoning Adjustments Board.
